Open Question: IMPORTANT my ex-husband took my son!?

3 December 2008, 8:28 am

Last night while I was at work he swung by my sitters and took off with my son then left me a message saying he'd be dropping him by in a week! I've never allowed him to just pop in and take him on little vacations like that before so when I spoke with him on the phone I told him it wasn't fair for him to just take my son on such short notice(he doesn't even have a toothbrush/clothes there) and that if he had just asked me I would have been okay with it but we have plans this week for his speech therapy and a couple play dates. Well my ex replies with "well it wasn't fair for your to just leave me with the car payments or tell my dad I don't pay you child support(which he doesn't) either. I'll bring him back in a week he's MY SON." I have a temporary custody order from NC last year. He did the exact same thing...snatched him at the sitters. So that order was approved by a judge to ensure stability for my son. Now we've moved to Oregon and after calling the police and having an officer come out to my house I was informed that I needed to go back to court. Here's the problem. I have absolutely NO money. His dad. HAS TONS OF MONEY. If anyone knows of any free legal advice or what actions I should take I would be greatly appreciative. I am in the dark about this and I'm terrified because I don't know where my son is. While I'm sure he'll be back in a week I am furious his dad thinks any time he gets angry with me he can just take my child like he's some sort of playing pawn in a game of chess. I would try to locate him myself but I don't want my son seeing us argue or worse if he refuses to give jake(my son) back watching anything escalate. I know he's not in danger otherwise I would have taken much more extreme measures but I have no idea where to go next! Help in Portland Oregon! Uwish...I DID CALL 911! If you didn't read the part where an OFFICER came out to my house? Thanks for the support thought. Really left me with that warm fuzzy feeling. jerk. Uwish...411. His grandfather(jake's father's side) watches him. We've had a civil relationship for over a year so it wasn't a situation where a stranger just strolled in off the streets to my daycare and took him. My ex(jake's FATHER) took my son from his grandpa's house(my ex's father) under the assumption he'd be bringing him "right back".... Read More »
